Community Service Order Participants And Juvenile Justice Workers

One of our most successful programs so far involves a partnership between Parklands, the Albury District Office of Probation and Parole Service (NSW), the Wodonga Office of the Community Correctional Services (VIC) and the cross border service of Juvenile Justice.

These organisations have been working with us to provide positive, constructive unpaid work programs for offenders.

The Gateway Village, Byrne's Lagoon and the walking trail next to the Murray River have benefited most from this partnership. Participants have undertaken duties ranging from mowing and brushcutting through to fencing, outdoor furniture construction, tree planting and weed removal.

Our supervisors are conscious of the need to provide workers with a positive and fulfilling work experience, while they pay their debt to society. While there are exceptions to the rule, we find most participants are very enthusiastic and conscientious workers and make a genuine effort!
