2007 Annual Report
A regional parkland system compared to a localised system...
The year ending 30th June 2007, as with the previous year, has been full of ups and downs, however the main focus was still primarily on securing adequate funding to ensure parklands has a viable future.
To begin, I would like to reiterate that parklands are predominantly about managing bush parks on a regional level and the benefits of a regional parkland system as compared to a localised system has many advantages. parklands have continued throughout this year with this objective in mind and have strived towards the regional system as opposed to a localised one.
This year has been a major stepping stone for parklands, one which has uncovered the true value of such an organisation and the real dollar value the community contribute through volunteerism, donations and various work programs. In November 2006 consultants were employed by the various stakeholders (Albury City Council, Wodonga City Council and Albury Wodonga Corporation) to devise a management cost on a per hectare basis.
