Bonegilla Migrant Experience Heritage Park - Opening
4 December 2005 Celebrate - ‘The Beginning Place’ "A Chance To Re-Visit Our Past" So please join us for the Grand Opening of the new interpretation centre at Block 19, the former Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre on the shores of Lake Hume, Wodonga on the weekend of December 3-4, 2005. Sunday, December 4th • 9.30am - Walk a Mile in Their Shoes - a re-enactment of walk from the railway siding to Block 19 • 11.00am - ‘The Beginning Place’ will be officially opened • Visit ‘The Beginning Place’ - immerse yourself in history • Delightful wardrobe puppet shows • Rites of Passage - a re-enactment of events that once occurred at the site such as weddings and mail-call • Reunion Lunch and Guided Tours • Bonegilla Stories - a 'show and tell' session to share your special item and story which reflects your early experience • A chance to record your own personal history • Various ethnic performances on community stage • A special-place graffiti wall for making comment For further information on event please phone Christine Thorpe on (02) 6023 2327.
