Wayne joins Parklands team

Wayne, who graduated Bachelor of Arts (Recreation) at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, also holds an Associate Diploma of Park Management from Charles Sturt University, Albury.

Before joining Parklands he worked for Darebin Parklands Committee of Management, in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne, for nine years. His responsibilities and experience included environmental education programs, environmental revegetation projects and parks management.

Wayne works closely with parklands Ranger Ben Berry. He also works for two days each week at Wandoo Aboriginal Corporation's facility (the former Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation Carramar Nursery, just west of Albury) helping develop an indigenous plant nursery specialising in bush tucker.

Wayne's other responsibilities include developing a community events calendar to help raise the profile of parklands even further and to get the community involved in a range of Parklands activities.

He also intends to establish Friends groups for the various parks including Padman Park, Huon Hill, Lower Kiewa, Eight Mile Creek, McFarlanes Hill and Gateway Island.

"I'm looking forward to involving people in things like seed collection and planting days," he says, "and I'm also looking forward to working with schools and students of all ages."
