Clean Up Australia DayOn Sunday 4 March parklands took part in Clan Up Australia Day. With the Albury Wodonga Environmental Centre and local community members, we focused out efforts along Felltimber Creek Road between Ingrams Road and Swainsona Reserve, West Wodonga. Over many years this area has been used increasingly as a dumping area for household, garden and building waste. Items found included a washing machine, car parts and outdoor furniture along with too much rubbish. McFarlanes Hillparklands has been working steadily to develop the Ridge Walking Trail. We will organize a series of Community Days when members of the, community can become more activitly involved with their regional parklands. Activities include woody weed removal, track construction, planting, interpretation and nest box construction. If you wanted to know when our next days is, or to be added to our mailing list please contact me on 02 60236714. Bush Tucker NurseryIn past months I have worked with Wandoo Aboriginal Corporation to establish a bush tucker nursery at the former Carramar Nursery site on the Howlong Road, Albury. A certificate in Nursery and Parks and Gardens Course, being run through Wodonga Institute of TAFE, has just commenced. Plant propagation has started, to the excitement of all. |
