Archaeology Update

We have successfully completed survey work in:

·        Post bush fire heritage survey, high country Victoria

·        Numerous site surveys for infrastructure development in NSW and Victoria

·        Large scale survey and excavation in Thurgoona Parklands Albury Wodonga

As part of the cultural heritage protection works associated with infrastructure development, parklands consulting archaeologists salvaged artefacts for the Aboriginal Community.  Achievements include:

·        15 trained archaeological assistants employed to work with the aboriginal community (representatives from Bangerang Cultural Centre Cooperative Shepparton and Mungabareena Corp Wodonga) for one week in the field and one week on artefact analysis.

·        Recovery of over 1300 artefacts

·        Largest site (most dense in terms of lithic [stone] artefects) recorded in the Wodonga area

Other works in the region have included surveys in Bonegilla, Fell Timber Creek, Porepunkah, Streets Road Wodonga and Drouin.
