Baranduda Range

Native grasses and strategic grazing will all form part of the future management at baranduda range. 5kg of native grass seed ($2,500) has been secured through the Natural Heritage Trust and Baranduda Landcare and will be planted this season in strategic sites. The lower section of the range is to be crash grazed in spring.

Our challenge is to manage and revegetate these pastures to to increae and invigorate the native component and to also decrease the potential fuel load/fire risk to all residents abutting the range. Hopefully this will minimise the need to slash in fire breaks as carried out this season.

The crash grazing program will be used untill all the fuel loads are adequately reduced and will be removed after this time. With all things going to plant the cattle will be taken from site in lat spring/early summer to give the native grasses a chance to set seed. this approach has been discussed with both the Baranduda Landcare groupand the Baranduda Country fire Authority with full support given.

All fences are currently being repaired so they can hold for the grassland strategy to be carried out.
