High Country Rail Trial
The High Country Rail Trail is being developed by community members from Wodonga-Sandy Creek Rail Trail Advisory Group (BAG) and the Tallangatta Rail Trail Advisory Groupm (TAG) in partnership with parklands. Materials have been donated and more than 865 volunteers have contributed 31,735 hours of labour, during the past three years. The High Country Rail Trail has been successful with a community support fund grant to investigate the feasibility of restoring the Sandy Creek Inlet railway or an alternative route. We encourage bridge enthusiasts, logisticians and marketers to join our Bridge Working Group. The TAG group has been focusing on the Tallangatta township section (bulldozing, spraying, slashing and picking up trailer loads of rocks). Tallangatta Secondary College VCAL students have made a substantial contribution towards this community project. Before the Christmas break, students installed some of the nine park seats that they constructed during the year. The BAG Group has been working on the undeveloped Kiewa floodplan section. BAG members meet at the Blazing Stump Hotel Bistro Room Hall at 7:30pm on the first Monday of each month. Working bees are every Monday and the second Saturday of most months. TAG members meet at Tallangatta Hall at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of each month. Working bees are every Tuesday and every second Sunday of most months, feel free to join us for as little or as long as you can. Are you passionate about marketing, writing , desktop publishing, research databases or publicity? Help us establish a Marketing Work Group. To get involved please contact Ant Packer on 0260232327. |
