Padman – Mates Park
More hands on deck needed to implement Padman Park Management Planparklands has been successful with an Environmental trust grant to employ a team of parklands Indigenous Rangers to work along the Murray River bank removing woody weeds and undertaking bank stabilisation works, such as wetland planting. Herculean efforts of Albury Green Corp teamThe Albury Green Corp team has achieved an enormous amount of woody weed removal along the McKenzies Flats area. The Green Corps team has been working with the Wednesday ‘Friends of Padman Park group’ over the past few months. Together they have cut, pasted and dragged woody weeds along a 400 metre long corridor from Pop’s Hole through to the Leany Tree. Murray River Recreational TrailAlbury Services has done a great job grading and resurfacing the entire road through Padman – Mates Park with recycled bitumen and redirected the track around the steepest section near the swimming pool, There are plans to bitumen the section near the swimming pool in the coming weeks. Revegetation WorksWe have had excellent success rates with the previous years plantings, thanks much to the efforts of those who weeded and spread mulch last spring. Interpretive SignageAlbury City Council has approved the draft interpretive signage that has been developed by the local residents sponsored by Cooper Hand Tools. We hope to have this printed and installed very soon. |
