Hume Building Society supporting Parklands with fire fighting and watering equipment
The Hume Building Society has donated $3,800 to Parklands which has allowed us to refurbish a former spray unit into a fire fighting & watering unit. The unit will allow Parklands to water revegetation areas when planted, together with the Growing Green Carbon Offset Program; including the 1400 plants Hume has planted over the past two years on Gateway Island as the inaugural member Growing Green program. The unit will in addition will allow Parklands Staff to assist with fire suppression activities in the regional parks, to provide further support for local CFA brigades. Parklands Ranger in Charge – Land Management, Ben Berry said “The support from Hume is timely with Parklands now able to assist the local CFA Brigades in fire suppression activities in and around the regional parks. The donation will allow us to refurbish a trailer that was donated by the Department of Sustainability & Environment, with a new fire fighting pump, hose and reels. Prior to this we have relied solely on the CFA. Once again Hume has shown real support for the local environment in which its members live.” Mr Andrew Saxby, Chief Executive Officer of the Hume Building Society said “Supporting Parklands in this manner is important. Hume’s involvement in the ‘Growing Green Carbon Offset’ Program protects the environment in the future and helping with fire suppression activities protects it today." |
