Fosters provides much needed drink for Murray River

On Friday 7 November, Fosters' Business Development Manager Damian Slater presented Parklands Albury Wodonga with a $35,950 community grant from Foster’s Group for the development of Murray River Parklands.

This grant will enable parklands to work in partnership with the regional community to restore 50km's of Murray River frontage and establish a recreational track linking Lake Hume to Albury, Wodonga and Barnawartha.

parklands is calling on community members to become founding members of a new Friends Group, which will oversee all planning and development of this project.  The really exciting thing about this project is that parklands will be supporting this new Group by drawing on the expertise of professional facilitators and trainers to help develop the community leadership skills of community members who chose to drive this project.  Fosters investment is in building the community capacity skills of OUR community whilst at the same time opening up public access to the iconic Murray River and improving the health of this magnificent river.

We invite community members of all ages and backgrounds to get involved.  We are asking for your enthusiasm and energy, not a lot of your time as parklands philosophy is about getting LOTS of people to do a little.  Collectively, this really adds up ... over the past 12 years, the value of volunteer time from LOTS of people tallies to over $8 million dollars.  Together - we CAN make a difference.

In the meantime, we will be sampling Fosters new 100% carbon neutral "Cascade Green".  Fosters note that "all ingredients are locally produced and recycled materials are used wherever possible.  All carbon emissions in producing "Cascade Green" are offset, working towards a neutral ecological footprint."
