Federation Hill
Size: 350 hectaresVegetation community: Dry Grassy Forest and Plains Grassy woodlandLandform: Steep rolling hills, some rocky outcropsClassification: Conservation and RecreationFeatures: Excellent views over WodongaWalking trails: Along fire access trails (Tracks names include Carex, Kangaroo, Sun Dew, Lily and Blue Bell)The fire trail names are native grasses and groundcovers that are typical of Box Gum Grassy Woodland hills in this region. This type of vegetation community is listed on the National EPBC as endangered, as there is so little quality remnants remaining in this region. Achievements6km's of stock exclusion fences constructed in steep, rocky country to enable crash grazing for environmental and fire management outcomes. Weed control, monitoring and planting of 16,000 understorey shrubs in gullies for erosion and biodiversity outcomes. Thank you to students from Wodonga Primary, Wodonga West Primary, Melrose Primary, Wodonga Catholic College, Victory Lutheran College, Wodonga South, Lavington Scouts, Australian Taxation Office staff, friends and family and the many individuals who have climbed the hill to access these gully systems and volunteer their time. The futureOne of Wodonga's most dominant hills, forming the backdrop to the southern end, Federation Hill is a significant and highly utilised bush park. Whilst the City of Wodonga manages this bush park, Parklands is currently implementing some bush restoration projects.
