SUMMARY:February Park Explorer - Waterworks to Diamond Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands for an adventure on the water! We will be paddling in canoes along the Murray River and Wodonga Creek\, with stops for walk n’ talks! \nPLEASE NOTE: This paddle is for experienced paddlers only! Give this a miss if you are a total beginner but check back as we add more Park Explorer events including walks and cycles later in the year! \nThese Park Explorer events are a new monthly series of Ranger-led experiences that will take you off the usual tracks to learn of the work behind the scenes and about the new trails nearing completion!\n\nParklands Albury Wodonga maintains over 176 km of nature trails together with community and partner organisations with no funds directly supporting this. The funds raised from our monthly Park Explorer experiences will go towards keeping these trails open and well-maintained including contracting a local disability supported employee business to mow track heads and others to mow in remoter areas.\n\nFor the February event\, participants will meet at the canoe ramp at Noreuil Park.  You will be transported to Waterworks where you’ll hop in your canoe and paddle downstream to Diamond Park\, stopping off at sites along the way to check out current works and future plans. At the end of the paddle\, you will be transported back to the car park at Noreuil. \nCost: $50 per person. \nWhen: 8:00 am til around 12:00 pm. \nWhere: Meet at the Noreuil Park canoe ramp. \nWhat is supplied: Canoe hire including life jacket and morning tea. Please advise of any special dietary requirements. \nWhat to bring: Appropriate clothes for canoeing and walking. Please wear a hat and bring some drinking water. \nOther info: There will be no toilets along the route. \nPlease click here to buy your tickets.

SUMMARY:Black Willow ID and Control Demonstration Day
DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands Rangers for a wander along House Creek in Wodonga\, looking for black willow and learning how to control it. These demonstration days are part of our ‘Applying Technology to Tackle Invasive Pest Plants’ project and black willow is being targeted as it is one of the most invasive pests along our local creeks and rivers. \nBy continuing to remove these plants when they are in small numbers\, we can keep a handle on them and stop them from taking over our waterways. \nWhen: 9:00 am to 11:00 am (2 hrs). \nWhere: Park along Forrest Mars Ave. near House Creek. The terrain in this area will be a little rough\, so gumboots are advised. \nWhat is supplied: All tools and any specific safety equipment needed. \nWhat to bring: BYO drinking water.
For your safety\, please wear covered shoes (preferably gumboots or other boots)\, long pants\, long sleeves\, and a hat. \nWho: You can contact Ranger Dan on 0417501352. \nPlease register here! Sometimes things change at the last minute and we need to be able to contact volunteers. \nThis project is financially supported by the Victorian Government’s Partnerships Against Pests Program.

SUMMARY:November Park Explorer - Bidja Bila Island to Dights Hill
DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands for an adventure on the water! We will be paddling in canoes along the Murray River\, with stops for walk n’ talks! \nThese Park Explorer events are a new monthly series of Ranger-led experiences that will take you off the usual tracks to learn of the work behind the scenes and about the new trails nearing completion.\n\nParklands Albury Wodonga maintains over 176 km of nature trails together with community and partner organisations with no funds directly supporting this.\n\nThe funds raised from our monthly Park Explorer experiences will go towards keeping these trails open and well-maintained including contracting a local disability supported employee business to mow track heads and others to mow in remoter areas.\n\nFor the November event\, participants will meet at the canoe ramp at Noreuil Park.  You will paddle downstream stopping off at sites along the Murray River and Travellers Creek to check out current works and future plans in Victoria whilst also checking out the popular Wagirra Trail on the NSW side. You will be transported back to the car park at the canoe ramp. \nCost: $50 per person. \nWhen: 9:00 am til around 1:00 pm.
