DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands Rangers and our Park Stewardship volunteers in Albury’s best bush parks\, every Friday as spring unfolds. \nEvery week we spend 2 hours in Albury’s environmental lands doing practical park tasks. \nYou will work alongside our Rangers experiencing the ‘how to’ of caring for our bush parks and reserves; undertaking a variety of park maintenance/improvement tasks like removing redundant fences\, replacing barbed wire with wildlife friendly plain wire\, weeding\, checking nestboxes and removing tree guards. \nAt the same time\, you will learn about the local environment and how Albury City and community groups are working to protect threatened species\, improve habitat and link habitat corridors across the region. \nWhen: 9.00 to 11.00am (2 hrs) \nWhere: Sept-December we rotate between parks on a weekly basis. \n\n4th Friday – Upper Bungambrawartha Creek. Meet at corner of Shaw St and Strauss St\, Springdale Heights.\n\nPlease note that meeting places will change over time as various priority works are completed\, so please register online so you can be updated of any changes.\n \nWhat is supplied: All tools and any specific safety equipment needed. \nWhat to bring: BYO drinking water. DESCRIPTION:Event Date: Saturday 10th September \nAs a follow up to our guided River walks\, Parklands invite interested community members to participate in a short working bee improving the habitat value of the Kiewa River. \nCome and explore the Kiewa river parklands\, contribute to biodiversity conservation\, and see if you can spot any rakali as we work! \n\nWhere:  Directions on Humanitix registration site.\nWhat to expect: We ask our River Stewards to do whatever is of interest on the day. Jobs to be done include removing a small volume of environmental woody weeds\, stripping redundant fencing and preparing for for planting. There will be options to match your capacity and interest\, and light duty roles are many.\nWhat to bring: Participants must wear covered shoes (boots) and long pants at all sessions\, preferably long sleeves as well\, and bring your own hat and water bottle. DESCRIPTION:Event Date: Weekly on Fridays\, 4th March – 29th April \nJoin Parklands Rangers in our stewardship program creating ecosystem resilience in the regional hills. \nThis program focuses on our regional Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – the endangered ecological community characterised by a diverse mix of species dominated by White Box\, Yellow Box and Blakely’s Red Gum trees. The vegetation of Baranduda Range is an excellent example of this community with a wide range of unique native plants\, hidden gullies and spectacular views. \nThe Ranger-led Box Gum Stewardship program offers a series of 2-hour hands-on sessions giving volunteers direct experience in restoring and enhancing our regional Box Gum woodlands. \n\nWhen: Friday mornings 9.30-11.30 am\nWhere: We will meet at the access gate to Baranduda Regional Park off Howards Rd\, Baranduda.\nWhat: Activities will cover the range of tasks necessary to ensuring resilient and appropriate habitat including native plant identification\, weed identification and treatment and habitat restoration tasks such as the installation\, maintenance and monitoring of nest boxes.\nWhat is provided: All tools\, materials and personal protective equipment is provided as is Ranger induction and session leadership.\nWhat to bring: Participants must wear covered shoes (boots) and long pants at all sessions\, preferably long sleeves as well\, and bring your own hat and water bottle. McFarlanes Hill in West Wodonga is an excellent example of this community with a wide range of unique native plants and of course the upper reaches of the beautiful Felltimber Creek. \nThe Ranger-led Box Gum Stewardship program offers a series of 2-hour hands-on sessions giving volunteers direct experience in restoring and enhancing our regional Box Gum woodlands. \n\nWhen: Tuesday mornings 9.30-11.30 am\nWhere: We will meet at the McFarlanes Hill walking track carpark at the base of the hill\, off Felltimber Creek Road.\nWhat: Activities will cover the range of tasks necessary to ensuring resilient and appropriate habitat including native plant identification\, weed identification and treatment and habitat restoration tasks such as the installation\, maintenance and monitoring of nest boxes.\nWhat is provided: All tools\, materials and personal protective equipment is provided as is Ranger induction and session leadership.\nWhat to bring: Participants must wear covered shoes (boots) and long pants at all sessions\, preferably long sleeves as well\, and bring your own hat and water bottle. DESCRIPTION:Join horticulturist Sue Brunskill for a hands-on introduction to seed collecting. A seasoned bush regenerator and teacher\, Sue is passionate about native plants and their propagation. This workshop will include recognising the different stages of plant reproduction\, knowing when to harvest and different techniques for different local native species. \nWhere: Gateway island Regional Park. Meet on Harris Road (entry on left from Lincoln Causeway heading towards Wodonga)\, just before the Railway Bridge underpass. \nWhat to bring: Bring a shopping bag to carry collected seed in. BYO water bottle\, gardening gloves and hat.
