SUMMARY:Banking on Trees Community Planting Morning
DESCRIPTION:The annual BankWAW planting morning is on again this winter.  Thank you to BankWAW who donates the cost of plants\, guards\, and stakes for each new bank account opened in the previous year. \nThis year efforts will contribute towards establishing much needed canopy cover between Ryans Lagoon North and Ryans Lagoon.  It will support Traditional Owner aspirations for this site and create a wildlife refuge for native fauna to help them adapt to the changing climate. \nWhen: 9:00 am to 11:00 am. \nWhere: Park on Trabants Rd.\, Bonegilla\, just off the junction of Snowdons Rd. and Ryans Rd. \nWhat to bring: Closed shoes and long pants as the ground might be muddy. Also please bring your own water.\n \nWhat will be provided:\n• All tools\, equipment\, materials\, and gloves (unless you want to bring your own gloves).\n• BBQ lunch will include sausages\, bread\, and sauce. Those with special dietary requirements\, please BYO. \nPlease register here!\n\nAbout this event: Did you know that every time an account is opened at BankWAW\, they plant a tree? \nTrees create endless amounts of good. They clean the air we breathe\, filter the water we drink\, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. \nPlanting a tree is also one of the easiest and cheapest ways to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere to tackle the climate crisis. It’s also the easiest way that we\, as individuals\, can reduce our own footprint.

SUMMARY:Invasive Grass ID and Removal at Baranduda
DESCRIPTION:Help us protect our precious native grasslands by learning how to identify whiskey grass and African love grass as well as the various techniques to control these new and emerging grass weed species. \nThese highly competitive exotic grasses form dense\, flammable stands and are nearly unpalatable for livestock. \nWe will walk along the High Country Rail Trail\, building our grass ID skills along the way\, then chip out and bag these invasive weeds. \nWhen: 9:00 am to 11:00 am. \nWhere: Park at the Whytes Road car park on the High Country Rail Trail.  \nWhat is supplied: All tools and any specific safety equipment needed. \nWhat to bring: BYO drinking water. For your safety\, please wear covered shoes (preferably boots)\, long pants\, long sleeves\, and a hat. \nWho: You can contact Ranger Dan on 0417501352. \nPlease register here so we know you’re coming and can contact you in case things change before the event. \n This project is financially supported by the Victorian Government’s Partnerships Against Pests Program.
