She will lead a short walk exploring the natural habitat values of the area and discussing stewardship activities to support the regeneration of native species. \nWhere: Today we will explore the habitat of McFarlanes Hill and Felltimber Creek. SUMMARY:Stewardship mornings on McFarlanes Hill
DESCRIPTION:Event Date: Weekly from Tuesday 1st March \nJoin Parklands Rangers and the Friends of Felltimber Creek for 2 hours on a Tuesday to help restore the natural environment of McFarlanes Hill. \nThis volunteer program focuses on our regional Box Gum Grassy Woodlands – the endangered ecological community dominated by White Box\, Yellow Box and Blakely’s Red Gum trees. McFarlanes Hill in West Wodonga is an excellent example of this community with a wide range of unique native plants and of course the upper reaches of the beautiful Felltimber Creek. \nThe Ranger-led Box Gum Stewardship program offers a series of 2-hour hands-on sessions giving volunteers direct experience in restoring and enhancing our regional Box Gum woodlands. \n\nWhen: Tuesday mornings 9.30-11.30 am\nWhere: We will meet at the McFarlanes Hill walking track carpark at the base of the hill\, off Felltimber Creek Road.\nWhat: Activities will cover the range of tasks necessary to ensuring resilient and appropriate habitat including native plant identification\, weed identification and treatment and habitat restoration tasks such as the installation\, maintenance and monitoring of nest boxes.\nWhat is provided: All tools\, materials and personal protective equipment is provided as is Ranger induction and session leadership.\nWhat to bring: Participants must wear covered shoes (boots) and long pants at all sessions\, preferably long sleeves as well\, and bring your own hat and water bottle. Current Covid safety measures must also be followed.\n\nPlease book for each session you intend to join. \nRegister here.
