Huon Hill Trail Run - 2014 »
The annual Huon Hill Trail Run was held last week. Previously run cooperatively by Parklands Albury Wodonga and the Army as part of the AWMA Trail Running Series, this year the coordination of the 2014 event was taken over by Brendan Murray, who stepped in after the Army elected not to be involved this year.
Jarvis Creek Jaunt – A ride that shouldn’t be mist »
The annual ‘Jarvis Creek Jaunt’ mountain bike ride took place on Sunday June 22nd. The ride is a fundraising and profile raising event that is run by the Tallangatta Rail Trail Advisory Group. There were 30 riders who took up the challenge to do the 49km ride through Jarvis Creek Regional Park, as well as 12 people (8 riders and 4 walkers) who chose to do the shorter 18km option.
Cars began rolling in through the mist at the starting area at Tallangatta at around 8:30am. Although some riders are put off by the misty conditions that we often experience in June, there is something pleasant about those types of mornings, especially when there is warm tea and coffee on offer and plenty of social banter going on between the friendly and welcoming event organisers and event participants...

Albury-Wodonga is fortunate to have such a great natural asset in the form of Nail Can Hill Reserve right on its doorstep. The reserve has significant environmental values and also plays host to a range of recreational and educational pursuits, including mountain bike events and drawcard events like the annual Nail Can Hill Run each May.
Nail Can Hill is used by thousands of residents and tourists each year, and numerous community groups also stage events and utilise the area for recreation, environmental and educational purposes. In recognition of the important role this bush reserve plays for the region, local community groups, nearby residents and fitness enthusiasts, attempts are currently underway to unite the wide range of users into a Nail Can Hill ‘user group’.
