This week is National Volunteer Week which means it’s the perfect time to give a shout out and a massive THANK YOU! to all the community members, work groups, and students that give their time to assist with projects at Parklands Albury Wodonga.
The amazing work undertaken by our volunteers includes things like installing infrastructure such as fences, gates, and boardwalks; the removal of weeds; and planting of native seedlings. These works not only enhance the environment and increase local biodiversity but provide amenities such as walking trails and picnic spots that enable the wider community to enjoy the beautiful natural spaces on our doorstep.
The theme for this year is ‘Connecting Communities’ which acknowledges the lasting impact that volunteering has both on the individuals that form lasting relationships with like-minded people, to the sense of pride and belonging that working towards a common goal has on a community.
The volunteering opportunities available with Parklands provide practical environmental work experience for students and jobseekers as well as fulfillment in knowing that you can revisit your work into the future and see the lasting results.
Parklands staff also want to thank our Board of Directors, who volunteer their time behind-the-scenes to ensure that Parklands achieves outcomes for the betterment of both community and the environment.
If you’d like to give volunteering a go, keep an eye on the Events page on our website for upcoming opportunities!
