It has been all hands on deck tree planting for the past few weeks thanks (or no thanks!) to the autumn rains that finally arrived in winter (July). The late arrival of rain reduces our planting window which means we need to work extra hard to get the seedlings in the ground while conditions are favourable.

We are so grateful for the help of volunteers who have stepped up and lent a hand – it really is amazing what can be achieved with even a small group of people. A special shout-out must go to those community members who have been coming back day after day to help us realise our planting goals.

Thank you also to Mantra Albury Hotel staff who enjoyed a few hours in the sunshine on Friday 1 August to participate in the Reafforestation project.  We appreciate Business Wodonga for sharing the planting opportunity through their e-newsletter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Sunday 3 August the BankWAW ‘Banking on Trees’ morning attracted high interest with a large group getting 1250 plants in the ground at Ryans Lagoon Wetlands!  Kudos to BankWAW for their promotions through social media.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In total, with all of the people helping Parklands Rangers during the past few weeks, we have planted and guarded over 9,000 seedlings so far…..!! Go team!! But we’re not done yet – there are still planting days happening this month, so check out our Events page for all the information and to register.

Our last community planting day is scheduled for Sunday 31 August at Waterworks Regional Park. This planting day includes a short Traditional Owner walk with Uncle Al from Duduroa Dhargal Aboriginal Corporation. You can find all the info and the link to register for this event here.
