When Ron McLachlan’s father returned from the war in the 1940’s, housing was in short supply around Albury. The family made the best of life in a crowded RSL camp on the Murray River for several years, before moving to the Hume Dam workers camp to work on the installation of the Hydro-electric system under the dam wall.

Ron recollects his adventures as a boy around the Waterworks and what is now the Lake Hume Village.

Parklands gratefully acknowledge the support of the NSW Government, through the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and the Heritage Council NSW, to make these Hume and Hovell Track stories.
