St Johns Orphanage has been a part of the regional community since 1892, with it’s popular ‘Band Sunday’ fundraiser well covered in the local news for decades.

Local journalist and historian Howard Jones has published numerous articles and several books investigating the history of St Johns Orphanage. This story is compiled from his works and a 2011 ABC radio article discussing the end of an era.
