As the revegetation activities draw to a close for winter 2025, Rangers have been busy submitting progress reports on the substantial efforts of our community over the past six months on Turtle Island and Browns Island. From removing woody weeds, monitoring for native fauna, and planting native seedlings in patches where woody weeds have been removed, there are some impressive before and after photos!

With Girl Guides booked to assist with plantings in the coming weeks, there is only one more community planting morning at Turtle Island this winter on Tuesday 2 September! You can register for that event here.
Continuing on from the excellent success of the large-scale woody weeding works last summer, river stewardship sessions on the first and third Tuesdays of October and November will be following up on smaller patches of box elder and other woody weeds around the Browns Island waterways, which we didn’t get to last summer. These river stewardship sessions will run for two hours in the morning, so if you feel you could lend a hand, please see the information and links to register below:
Thank you to the Australian Government for their financial support through the Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.
