Parklands Albury Wodonga recommends that cyclists and pedestrians STAY AWAY and do not visit the High Country Rail Trail whilst the Upper Murray fires remain active. This includes all sections east of Tallangatta.

Based on published fire maps it appears that the rail trail has been burnt from the Upper Murray through to Bullioh and 13 of the remaining 14 historic trestle bridges have likely been lost.

Our thoughts are with those who have lost everything in the past few days, particularly those who endured this same reality only six years ago.

Thank you to Forest Fire Management Victoria, CFA, and NSW Rural Fire Brigade volunteers and staff and the many emergency support people who have been battling this fire for nearly a week.

There will be more than enough ways you can help during the recovery stage.  For now, the most important thing is to STAY AWAY and keep safe.
