Have a look at these extraordinary flowers, and the number of bees enjoying them!

These are the flowers of the Pincushion Hakea Hakea laurina, snapped recently at the Ebden platform on the High Country Rail Trail.

These hakea are native to southern parts of Western Australia and do well here in NE Victoria. They are hardy, drought tolerant plants which provide great habitat for birds and insects, flowering in autumn and winter.

Our thanks to Geoff Bayes for these fantastic photos.
