As entries open for the inaugural Border Barkfest Fun Run on September 24th,  Albury Wodonga’s dogs and their owners are jumping to join.

Barkest 2017 is a “Canine and Owner” Fun Run on Gateway Island, with a choice of two distances for varying canine (and people) fiteness levels.  At the finish line participants will be able to relax and enjoy a bbq and chat with friends both new and old.

Barkfest is a Parklands Albury-Wodonga’s initiative bringing together conservation and community wellbeing in a festival celebrating our canine friendships.

We know our bush parks already provide people and their pets with a positive interaction with nature, and we want to build on that.

Dog ownership improves health and wellbeing, as does connecting with nature and like-minded community members. Parklands has put the two together. What better way to enact our charter of building community connections through our fantastic bush parks and trails?

PAW will use Barkfest as an annual fundraiser for local environmental work which contributes directly to the wellbeing of our community. We have big plans for Barkfest.

In 2018 Barkfest will be on Sunday 23rd September and in addition to celebrating Canines, will be a full festival with the following attractions:

  • Fashion Parade
  • Tricks competition
  • The Fast and the Furryous dog fun run
  • Dog related Market Stalls
  • Obedience
  • Flyball demonstration
  • Sled dog demonstrations
  • Kids activities including face painting and jumping castle
  • Food stalls
