The Hume and Hovell Track end to end is over 400km, but distance obviously doesn’t daunt Lawrence Till.

‘Tilly’ of Walla Walla walked 438km of the Hume & Hovel track over 21 days from 20 October 2017, arriving at the Hovell Tree in Albury on 13 November 2017.

He walked through 6 days of rain and added a few extra kilometres when he missed some detour signs.

The biggest challenge was the section from Tunnel Road in Woomargama through to Bowna.  The repeated steep ascent/decents on this wild section, together with rough terrain was, in Tilly’s words, “savage”.

Tilly managed an extra “rest day” when he arrived at Lake Burrinjuck early and was unable to get across. The ferry only goes on Mondays and Thursdays!
