The annual Huon Hill Trail Run was held last week. Previously run cooperatively by Parklands Albury Wodonga and the Army as part of the AWMA Trail Running Series, this year the coordination of the 2014 event was taken over by Brendan Murray, who stepped in after the Army elected not to be involved this year.

A strong field of 77 local athletes turned up on the day to tackle the steep terrain and local tri-athlete Jesse Featonby took out the 13.8km 2014 Huon Hill Trail run in a jaw-dropping sub-one-hour time of 59:26.

Luke Preston finished second in 1:02.57, Eamonn Staunton third in 1:06.39 and Nathan Rodgers, 17, came in fourth place in a time of 1:09.41.

In the women’s event, Julie Gollan-Foard had a great run winning with a time of 1:31.44 to win from Bree Robinson 1:33.11 and Belinda Daggett 1:34.11.

Congratulations to the winners and to Brendan Murray who made the event possible by taking on the event coordinator role this year. Stay tuned for details on the 2015 Huon Hill Trail Run.
