PRAMS, puppies and power walkers may be impacted by works planned on the Kiewa River at Killara, with flood repair works commencing on February 19.

North East Catchment Management Authority (North East CMA) project officer, Michael Broughton, said North East CMA has engaged a contractor to help repair a gauging station site located on the Kiewa River, immediately downstream of the Murray Valley Highway.

“They will start works along the Kiewa River at Killara, commencing at the Murray Valley Highway bridge and working downstream for approximately 260 metres,” Mr Broughton said.

“This work will help protect the essential public infrastructure. If all goes to plan, the works should be completed by the end of the week, on Friday 23 February, in order to minimise disruption to the community.

“We would ask the public to be aware that there will be trucks carting rock and an excavator onsite. We ask that they take notice of all signage and fencing put in place to ensure the safety of the public and contractors during works.”

Agencies with interest in this area, including Wodonga Council, Parklands Albury Wodonga, and Goulburn Murray Water have all been consulted and are supportive of the works being undertaken to repair the damage to the stream gauging site caused by flooding.
