A new Mural Trail project aims to showcase the works of our local creative community along 2.3km of the High Country Rail Trail, from Cudgewa township to Wabba Creek.

Funded by the Towong Community Bushfire Disaster Relief Fund Grant Program, the project brings opportunities for local talent to shine, with up to ten murals to be printed onto steel signage and installed along the trail.

Project hosts Parklands Albury Wodonga worked with the Man from Snowy River Tourist Association to develop the proposal, recognising that local people in the creative arts industry have been severely impacted by the bushfires and the pandemic.

Key to the project is community co-design, with the first steps involving the formation of a Mural Trail Working Group and the employment of a local Facilitator to generate community conversations on the design of the new trail.

Ant Packer, Parkland’s Community Ranger, sees the project as a way to bring people together, connecting people, art, nature and heritage. “We see the creative spirit of the Upper Murray driving, designing and delivering these works” she said.
