Last week ranger Ant Packer was fortunate to visit NSW National Parks in the company of environmental land managers and professional fire ecologists. The aim was to see the natural recovery first hand and learn more about the ecological processes in action.

The group was heartened to see extensive evidence of recovery throughout the parks, including epicormic growth on eucalypts and grasses and ferns emerging within weeks of the fires. The resilience of nature!

Our thoughts are with people in the fire impacted areas. If you would like to help your community on the long road to recovery, the new agency Bushfire Recovery Victoria is calling for local people to form Community Recovery Committees. CRC’s will help individuals and communities get back on their feet. For further information see https://www.vic.gov.au/get-involved-in-your-communitys-recovery
