Planet Ark’s National Tree Day is being taken up with enthusiasm locally, with a range of community tree planting events open to school groups, families, residents, organisations and businesses.

Volunteers from Friends of Padman-Mates Park, Woolshed-Thurgoona Landcare, Splitters Creek Landcare, Friends of Willow Park, Baranduda Landcare, Clyde Cameron Reserve Group and Beechworth Urban Landcare and Sustainability will be hosting events across the region, and invite residents to join them for this special day.

The benefits of putting native plants back into our landscapes are well known; restoring habitat, improving air and water quality, improving the amenity of our parks, reserves and waterways.

This year, Planet Ark is also endorsing the human health benefits of being in nature, releasing new research finding that nature helps make people happier, healthier, brighter, calmer and closer. So, mentally, physically and socially, joining a National Tree Day event is good for you!

Find out more on the Planet Ark website, or find one of the many local tree day events you can join at Ecoportal.
