In these strange days of self-isolation, getting out into nature offers multiple benefits for our physical and mental health.

Over the coming weeks we’ll bring you some of our favourite walks in Albury Wodonga that can tick all the boxes for safe COVID-19 exercise; uncrowded bush walks with beautiful fresh air, great views and a walk that will give you approximately 4km/45mins of gentle exercise.

We were very pleased to see so many people out on the Eastern Hill circuit last weekend, one of our favourites. If you want to get away from the paved footpaths and away from other people, this bushwalk on a fire trail takes you through magnificent bushland and includes some spectacular views, captured in the photos below.

You can download and print the trail map below, or download the attached gpx version onto your mobile phone.

In preparation for your walk, you can hear a number of the Hume and Hovell Track stories set in this area; about the old RSL camp, the cultural significance of Mungabareena, and the development of Doctors Point by the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation in the 1970’s.  You might also like to bring along your “Along the bush tracks” booklet and improve your plant identification skills with the various native grasses, trees and small shrubs along the trail.

And don’t forget to keep your social distance!
