This morning Parklands Rangers and volunteers began dismantling the old Smollett St fence around the Albury Botanic Gardens, carefully unbolting the steel rails from their sleeves and putting them aside for removal.

For an organisation accustomed to creative recycling, the old fence is greatly appreciated as a raw material with the potential to fill many needs. Rangers noted the quality of the old steel, which has served as the boundary fence for the Botanic Gardens for many years.

The steel lengths are to be transformed into handrails on the bridges along the regional rail trails; a re-purposing that will benefit the community for many years to come.

Many thanks to AlburyCity and the team at the Albury Botanic Gardens for your generosity and assistance with the necessary permissions to achieve this project.
