The planting out of locally endemic species of trees, shrubs, and grasses is a key goal of Parklands Albury Wodonga. Revegetating areas leads to an increase in local biodiversity and resilience against climate change. Not only is this good for the environment but getting out in the fresh air and contributing towards the betterment of our parks can be an enjoyable activity.

Now thanks to Wodonga Men’s Shed, planting has never been easier! Dave and Ron (pictured), as well as the whole Men’s Shed team, have been engaged to fabricate more ‘Weapons of Mass Plantation’. These devices are made from mini mattocks and have one end converted into a hammer so that volunteers can efficiently plant seedlings and install tree guards without the need for more than one tool. So handy for the upcoming planting season! If you would like to help out on any of our planting days and make a difference in your local parks, keep an eye on our events.

Thank you to Bendigo Bank’s Albury Wodonga Connected Communities for their grant to replace worn and battered tools with quality implements for volunteers so that they may step up and take positive action towards climate change.
